5.5-7mm. Generally black and glossy but with red-brown legs, palps and antennae. Males are easier to identify than females due to having upturned hooks at the end of each style - a unique character.

• antennae inserted on the side of the head and outside the base of the mandibles
• all black body, red-brown legs, palps and antennae
• random punctures on the pronotum
• microsculpture on the abdominal sternites
• males with upturned hooks at the end of each style

This species must be keyed and the identifying features described and ideally photographed.
