Length of body 1.8 to 2.2 mm. Pseudoscorpions are small arachnids with a flat, pear-shaped body and pincers that resemble those of scorpions. The pincers in this species are reddish brown, the body being yellow/olive in colour and glossy.

It occurs in compost and dung heaps and also the rotten wood of dead trees.

Peak time is summer.

Feeds on small larvae, mites and tiny flies.

In Britain it is a widely distributed species and is particularly associated with densely populated areas.

Thought to be fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland but easily overlooked due to its small size.
