A reflexed annual corticoid with a rubbery texture.  As it matures the fruit bodies turn back to show the pale, felty cap on the upperside.  The underneath fertile surface is pinkish-buff and radially wrinkled, and extends over the substrate as a crust.

Fairly frequent and widespread in Britain.
