Cap 3 to 5 cm. A fairly sturdy, brownish cap with a central umbo and paler whitish stem.

Grassland, often at the edge of woods.

Summer and autumn.

Although it is widespread in England it seems to be rather infrequent.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
