In the mature fruiting bodies the pores (ostioles) are distinctive because of the white rings around them. A granular covering is not unusual on immature fruit bodies.

Grows on Ash twigs, but not those lying at ground level, only the ones lifted off the ground.

All year round.

Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
