c4mm. A small orange-yellow sawfly with a pale brown head and darker brown patches on the mesonotum. Antennae are mainly black in females but less so in males. The abdomen has some black on the basal tergites. The hind tarsus is as long as the hind tibia.

This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.

Hedgerows containing Hawthorn.

Summer.

The larvae develop in young hawthorn berries.

Widespread, but thinly scattered records from England.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
