Description

Length 5 to 8 mm. Stoutly built.

Identification difficulty

Adult, Larva and leafmine (when the host plant is identified)

Habitat

Alder and birch; occasionally hazel.

Life History

Largely parthenogenic, males are rarely seen.

VC55 Status

Uncommon or under-recorded.
