An all brown beetle, sometimes paler around the ‘shoulders’ and pronotum. The legs are also pale brown.

Found on or in tree fungi.

Most likely to be encountered in summer and autumn.

The larvae are associated with fungi – usually bracket fungi.

Scattered records from most parts of Britain, but not particularly common.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 11 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
