Wingspan 15-20 mm. A variable species and there are a number of very dark forms, some of which do not show any obvious green coloration.

Parks, gardens, hedgerows, scrubland and woodland.

It flies in June and July.

The caterpillars feed on the blossoms of Apple and Pear as well as other fruit trees.

A fairly common species in much of Britain. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as common.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant)
