The cap is sticky and a reddish or tawny brown fading to greyish-ochre as it matures.  The gills are pale greyish.  The stipe is extremely glutinous and covered in a clear slime; it is marked with a series of yellow-brown veil remnants.

An uncommon but quite widespread species in Britain.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
