A large to very large funnel, very variable in size, sometimes found in fairy rings in grasslands.  Initially with slightly velvety convex caps, it expands with age to a shallow funnel, retaining its inrolled margin and sometimes crenulate edge (wavy/scalloped).  The mature cap is smooth and creamy white in colour, but may develop brown stains and circular cracks with age. The cream gills are crowded and decurrent.  The stem is short and thick, and the same colour as the cap.
