A robust upright, aromatic plant to 2 metres, with cream or greeny-yellow flowers 2 to 4 mm in umbels that may be 25 cm across.

Widespread in Britain as a casual or naturalised plant.

Local in Leicestershire and Rutland where it occurs mainly in the Soar valley – it is rare elsewhere in our area. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was found in 5 of the 617 tetrads.

In the current Checklist (Jeeves, 2011) it is listed as Alien (neophyte); locally frequent along R Soar; rare elsewhere.
