Fly Agaric - Amanita muscaria
Description
The cap is red and usually covered in white veil fragments; sometimes the cap is smooth. There is a ring on the whitish stem and a volva.

Habitat
Heathland and woodland, often with Birch.
When to see it
Most commonly found from late summer to late autumn
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
VC55 Status
Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
