A small - medium sized milkcap associated with Hazel.   The cap is smooth and convex with inrolled margin, often wavy. Colour variable; pale, greyish-brown or with olive tints, pinkish-buff gills.  White milk, drying grey-green, with a very hot burning taste.

Several similar species, but the association with Hazel and hot burning taste of the milk is characteristic
