Wingspan 12-16 mm. A tiny, chocolate-brown moth, marked with lemon-yellow. It rests with its antennae held forward. The antennae are marked with white about two-thirds along their length.

Woodland, hedgerows and gardens.

It flies during the day in May and June.

Larvae feed on dead wood.

Fairly frequent throughout Britain. In the Butterfly Conservation’s Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant)
