Wingspan 10 to14 mm. A largely white and grey species, but with a splash of orange near the wing tips.

It inhabits wooded and damp areas where the foodplant occurs.

The adults are on the wing during May to July, flying from dusk onwards, and are attracted to light.

The foodplant is Willow.

A fairly common species over much of Britain. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
