Elachistidae Wingspan 8 or 9 mm. One of several similar whitish, the specific name triatomea describes the three darker specks on the pale forewing.

Grassland, where the larvae mine blades of fescue grasses (Festuca sp.).

The adult moths fly in June and July.

It is distributed from south-east England to southern Scotland, but rare in south-west England and Wales, and only scattered in Ireland. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.

It appears to be uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland, where there are few records. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded).
