A very large annual bracket fungus,initially circular or fan-shaped, ochraceous-cream covered in concentric dark brown fibrillose scales. Sometimes found in large tiered groups. The stem is off-set from the centre.   Pores large (1 - 2 mm wide), angular and elongated.

Very common throughout Britain.

Common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
