Wingspan 23 to 25 mm. This is an ochreous-yellow moth.

Occupying damp woodland, fens and other marshy areas.

The adult moths are on the wing in June and July, in a single brood.

The larvae feed on the leaves of Alder.

This moth is fairly commonly distributed in England and Wales, but is rare in Scotland. It is not known to occur in Ireland. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as local.

Fairly frequent but not common in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = B (scarce resident or restricted distribution or regular migrant).
