Length 4.5 mm.  The adults are usually brachypterous and often show a dark spot at the apex of both the corium and the cuneus as in D. epilobii, but the 1st antennal segment is mainly pale and the head has dark markings.

• Basal antennal segment largely pale
• Ant2 not more than 1.25 times as long as pronotum is wide.

This species is found widely on Hedge Woundwort.

Adult: All year, particularly July-September.
