Length 4.5 to 5 mm. Dictyonota species and Kalama tricornis have two rows of meshes at the lateral edges of the forewings and uniformly wide antennae (the 3rd segment is as thick or thicker than the 4th). In D. fuliginosa, the antennae are mainly brown.

Can be found on Broom, particularly favouring old bushes with many seedpods.

Adult: June-October.

Recorded mainly in the southern half of England and sometimes local.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
