Wingspan 12 to16 mm. One of the more nondescript members of the Dicrorampha genus.

Areas where the larval foodplant is present.

The flight period is from July to September, when it is most active just before dark.

The larvae feed within the roots of Mugwort.

Occurring locally throughout England and Wales. It is also present in parts of Scotland and Ireland. In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as local.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant).
