Dichrooscytus is comprised of 4 species in Europe. These are all quite similar. They are mainly green and have greenish red wings. Dichrooscytus rufipennis is the biggest of the four species, measuring some 6 mm. The second antennal segment is larger than pronotum base in D. rufipennis.

Unless identified by a recognised expert, a photo is required and the specimen should be examined with a microscope. In the comments box, state the key or ID method used and describe the size and identifying characters.

This is a species associated solely with Scots Pine.

The larvae can be seen from April, adults appear in June.

Females deposit their eggs in autumn, but the eggs do not hatch before spring next year.

Seems to be widespread in Britain, but it is not well recorded.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
