Spongaria of the slime mould Diachea leucopoda are cylindrical, 0.7 to 1.2 mm. high, 0.3 to 0.8 mm. broad, white stalked, occasionally sessile, the tops iridescent blue, purple, or brown.

On dead leaves, twigs, and other ground material.

Widespread though possibly under recorded in Britain.

Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Battram Wood specimen of 17th Oct 2015 was the first record of this species in VC55.

Currnetly, this genus is not assigned by the NBN to a family, but appears in the sub-class Columellinia
