The Delicate
The Delicate - Mythimna vitellina
Wingspan 36 to 43 mm. The adults vary in colour from very pale yellow to almost orange.
Various habitats.
Usually seen between August and October, but also sometimes earlier in the season.
It is considered that some of the earlier migrants during the year may breed in Britain, giving rise to autumn adults, but the larval stage is not well known due to its nocturnal and retiring nature.
A migrant species, appearing most commonly on the south and south-west coasts of England. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as a migrant.
It appears to be uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland, where there are few records. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded).
