A small fungus with a sticky or greasy cap, associated with herbivore dung.  The caps convex and rounded with translucent striations, dark red-brown with white flecks of veil remaining at the cap margin; the stem is brown with white fibrils and the gills are dark brown.   The spores are brown, thick walled and hexagonal in face view.   

Several other species of Deconica are associated with herbivore dung but are not or rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland
