Length 4 to 5 mm. Dark bronze to metallic-greenish; pronotum shining, finely and rather diffusely punctured and pubescent. Elytra with alternate interstices with patches of black velvety pubescence.

Often found in mossy areas.

All year but mainly March to July.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were approximately 19 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
