Description
A small (3 to 4 mm) light brown beetle.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Around ponds and wet areas, sometimes associated with Common Reed (Phragmites australis) but also found where this plant is not present.
When to see it
Spring to autumn.
Life History
Larvae are aquatic.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly common in suitable areas of Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 47 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
