A small annual bracket, often hoof-shaped, white to greyish at first, but becoming a distinctive blue colour on the finely hairy upper surface.  The pores are small, 4 - 5 per mm and blueish.

Conifers, mostly Spruce (Picea) or silver fir (Abies) trees

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain and Ireland.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
