Wingspan 26 to 28 mm. A pale buff coloured species - on some specimens a row of blackish dots on the forewing is conspicuous, on others almost absent.

Areas where the larval foodplants are found.

The adults fly in June and July and are attracted to light.

The larvae feed internally on the stems of Small-reed (Calamagrostis spp.)

A very local species occurring mainly in the Huntingdonshire fens. There have been a few records in the south, which are attributed to migrants. In a recent survey to determine the status of all macro moths in Britain this species was classified as being Red Data Book 3.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. L&R Moth Group status = C (very scarce resident or rare migrant).
