A medium-sized Cavalier with grey-brown cap with a whitish margin, flattened with a depressed centre and umbo.  The crowded emerginate gills are cream. The stem is cream with a darker grey-brown base, the flesh inside the stem base also blackish 

There are several similar species and microscopic examination may be needed to separate them

This is a difficult species to identify with certainty, and we recommend that it is verified from a specimen by an expert before submission to NatureSpot.  Also photograph from top down, in side view and from underneath to show gills and full length of stipe.  Note habitat and substrate.
