There is at least one other similar species (C. rufipes). The head, thorax and abdomen of the adult are all black, the legs a pale orange.

Specimens found on English Elm are more likely to be Cladius ulmi .

This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.
