A small (5-7mm), very slender, straw-coloured bug with short 2nd antennal segments.   The 1st antennal segment has a black club, and the femora are tipped with brown (not black).  The head is shorter than the pronotum.

Adults overwinter, mating early in the spring; the new generation is complete from July onwards.

Common (ref.: UK checklist 2021 on British Bugs website). The commonest and most widespread UK stiltbug.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
