Size 4.5 to 7 mm. Although variable in appearance, the two chevron marks on the abdomen are the indicator of this species.

There are three Anyphaena species in the UK and all are extremely similar.

Microscopic examination of the genitals of mature specimens is necessary to identify this species safely. 

Found hunting over foliage of trees and shrubs, rarely found on the ground.

This species gets its name from the fact that the male taps its abdomen on a leaf during courtship, making an audible buzzing sound.

Widespread and frequent over much of Britain, especially in the South.

Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland.
