Length 3 to 3.5 mm. One of the easier flower bugs to identify. The antennae are relatively long and the forewings are entirely shiny, but unlike A. nemorum, the pronotum is clearly yellow/brown in the posterior half (A. nemorum may occasionally have reddish rear half of pronotum but not clearly defined). The forewings are generally lighter than in the more common species, and the membrane markings also typically different.

This species is associated with sallows and willows, occasionally on Alder.

All year. 

Not widely distributed or common, but occurs across several counties in the south-eastern part of England. 

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
