Length: 2.8 to 3.8 mm.  The body is predominantly black with orange pronotum.  The antennae are black with some orange towards the base, the legs are also predominantly orange.  Although it is striking in appearance there are other very similar species, particularly Anaspis ruficollis, so detailed examination is needed.

May to July or early August.

Widespread and fairly frequent in the southern half of Britain.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
