A 6.5 to 9mm long brownish black Amara beetle.

Open dryish habitats like gardens, field margins and waste ground.

All year round, but most likely to be recorded in summer and autumn.

Fairly frequent and widespread in much of Britain, although probably less common in the west except on the coast.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 25 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
