Description
Length 4.5 to 6 mm, often with a rather bronzy sheen.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Oak woodland or other areas where oak is found.
When to see it
Peak period is June to August.
Life History
The larvae burrow through the bark of dead trunks and branches of Oak.
UK Status
Widespread in the southern half of Britain.
VC55 Status
Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were approximately 24 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
