2.5 - 3mm. A small, dark brown (almost black) ground beetle with the pronotum a lighter brown. The antennae are dark but with a paler first segment. The legs are yellow-brown. The pronotum narrows towards the base and has very rounded hind angles. There is a dorsal puncture on the third elytral interval.

Bembidion species have a much reduced last segment to the maxillary palps.

Wetland areas, often in moss and grass tussocks.

Common and widespread in England and Wales up to the midlands.

Reasonably common.
