This is a very tiny, dark brown feather-wing beetle. This family contains the smallest of all beetles with a length of 0.5 mm and even the largest members of the family only measure 2 mm.

Can be found in leaf litter.

All year round.

Adults and larvae of this family are usually found in rotting organic material in a wide range of habitats.

Seems to be widespread in England and Wales.

Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were only 2 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
