Length 5 to 6 mm.  An elongate grass bug with a transverse furrow between the eyes, Acetropis gimmerthalii is relatively broad and oval in shape and bears a superficial resemblance to Stenodema holsata. However, the pronotum is smooth, lacking obvious punctures and the head is as wide as the front of the pronotum. The length of the 2nd antennal segment is equal to that of the 3rd and 4th combined and there are a number of well-defined dark stripes on the upper surface.

This bug can be found in a variety of damp and dry grassland habitats.

Adult: June to September.

Distributed mainly across southern and central England and Wales, but not particularly common.

Rarely recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland.
