This species is larger and darker than Acericerus vittifrons and A. ribauti and is associated with Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). The forewings are marbled brown and grey, with a light spot on the clavus.  Females may not be identifiable, but the male has a thin longitudinal dark bar down the face, which extends widely above the ocelli (the minute simple eyes between the large compound eyes).

A recent arrival in Britain.  It was found at a number of sites in southern England during 2010.

Uncommon
