Small, grouped, stalked sporangia forming clustered or scattered colonies. Typically 0.3–1.0 mm across, globose, surface quite smooth, finely papillate or slightly verrucose (c.f. Arcyria spp.). Bright yellow to orange-yellow when fresh, darkens with age.
Stalk: slender, often translucent to pale.
Sporocarps: stalked sporangia, 0.5–2 mm tall, usually solitary to loosely clustered - opening irregularly (c.f. Trichia crateriformis -  sporangia with operculum appearing as smooth cup edge.

Microscopic examination and identfication by an expert is needed. 

Saprophytic on decaying wood, bark, and litter in moist, shaded habitats; commonly on small twigs and branches.

Appears in damp seasons.
