Wingspan about 14 mm.  

There are several similar species in the genus and gen det is required to determine to species level.

Determination by genitalia examination (gen. det.) required.

Waste ground and field margins where the larval foodplants occur.

Usually April to October.

The larvae mine the leaves of Goosefoot and Orache, living within a spinning then over-wintering as a pupa.

Uncommon in Britain.  In the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as Nationally Scarce B.

Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland (VC55).
