Description
5.5-6.5mm. An orange-bodied sawfly with a black mesonotum (top of the thorax). Legs are orange. The wings are dark-tinted and with a bi-coloured stigma (less pronounced in males). Larvae feed gregariously and are pale green in the middle and yellow front and rear, with a black head.
Similar Species
Larva of Cladius grandis are similar but these have large black spots on the sides compared with the more numerous small spots on Pristiphora conjugata.

Larva feed on poplars and willows.

Adults: April-June then July-August.
