A large fungus with circular or fan-shaped caps that are pinkish-lilac in colour, fading to yellowy-brown. The stem is off-centre or lateral.  The gills are cream or whitish and very decurrent.  

It is similar to oyster mushrooms in shape (Pleurotus spp.) but not colour.

Rarely recorded; scarce

Although this species has gills and resembles an Oyster fungus, it is in the completely different order of Polyporales. It is more closely related to some polypores and bracket fungi.
