Description

Macropsis is a very difficult genus of hoppers, mainly becasue of the variation in colour and markings.  Macropsis prasina is usually bright green, with green veins in the forewing.  Males have a black spot at the base of the hind tibia.   Length 4.3mm - 5.1mm; females larger than males. It is associated with sallows.

A set of photographs of a specimen showing key features; reference to the key in Le Quesne (1965) is recommended, and dissection of female and male gentialia may be needed to confirm identification.  Note sex, length and associated plant species.
