Thallus pale greenish grey to grey, often zoned at the margin, surface with often abundant, often (but not always) clearly delimited, round soralia that lack a bitter taste, apothecia rare.

Widespread on bark of deciduous trees, only occasionally on other substrates.

All year round.

Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain though it seems to have a somewhat uneven distribution.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
