This is a large pale buff-brown, slightly spotted species - but there is a second colour form having longitudinal dark and light stripes which is much easier to identify.

Unless identified by a recognised expert, photographic evidence is required and the specimen should be examined with a microscope. In the comments box, state the key or ID method used. Found both inland in grassy areas where it is associated with Umbelliferous flowers near water, and also in coastal marshes.

Widespread in England and Wale.

Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland not known. There were only 5 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
