6-7mm. Adults are black on top but orange elsewhere, with a black spot on top of the orange head. Legs are orange. Eggs are laid on apple blossom and the larva feed on the developing fruit causing surface scarring.

Adults fly during April-May. Larva may be found during summer months on apples.

Uncommon but widespread in England.

Rare or under-recorded.
